A cold winter’s night at the Ashfire Arms Inn and Tavern - generally shortened to simply Ashfire Arms - a spacious but cozy establishment nestled in the outskirts of Waterdeep. While it does see its fair share of adventures and troublemakers, the typical crowd are quieter folk consisting of road weary merchants, locals, and travelers. Anyone looking for a comfortable place to rest, good food, and plenty of drink is welcome at the Arms. It was built by innkeeper Dorn Ashfire with his wife, Venna, after his retirement as a quartermaster from the Neverwinter Guard. Hanging on the front wall can be seen Dorn’s sword and shield flanked by various trophies collected over the years. Where exactly the trophies came from and how they got on the wall is a subject of debate since each time a patron asks a different elaborate story is concocted by one of the proprietors. In the foreground sits their son Corlen, who can be frequently found entertaining guests when he is not off trying to emulate the sagas he so admires. Their daughter, Loragwyn, tends bar and makes it her business to know any news, rumor or secret spoken by charmed patrons with tongues loosened by drink.

This picture takes place during six months of downtime in one of the campaigns I’m a playing in, so my tiefling celestial warlock, Maro, is also there, earning a place to stay by tending to the inn’s patrons - bringing out a hearty meal that she’s helped to prepare.
